Captains Report 2010 (Alison Asplin):
This summer the Ladies 4th team were in Group 5A with six other teams. Despite a few injuries we were able to field a good team for each match and over the season we developed a good team spirit. I am delighted to say that we remained unbeaten all season!!!! We played against some strong opposition but showed good strength of character and didn’t buckle under pressure – two matches were won in the final rubber in championship tie-breaks. We will end the season at the top of Group 5A, winning 69.5% of all sets played. A fantastic result!!!! We will be promoted next season - actually we have jumped up in to Group 4A, overtaking the 3rd team!! Thank you to everyone who played for the 4th team this year!!
Captains Report 2009 (Penny Giles):
Not such a good season for the 4th team. We had close results in four of our matches, but the remaining two we lost 8-1 and so possibly were close to relegation for next season. It seems we have avoided it by the smallest of margins - 2 sets!! I had quite a large pool of players to choose from and I am aware that some people, for whatever reason, did not get many matches. I think team selection has become more difficult since nominations were dropped and players allowed to play in 3 consecutive teams and it has made the distinction between the squads somewhat blurred. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who played in the 4ths, we came up against some tough opposition, but I hope you still enjoyed playing. I am now passing the captain’s reins over to Alison – I wish her and the team every success for 2010. Finally, thanks team for putting up with me – the old girl is bowing out now!
