Every year Townsend LTC receive an allocation of pairs of tickets from the LTA by virtue of our affiliation to the LTA. We are then able to run a ballot for qualilfying members for these tickets. This ballot is usually held on the first Friday evening in May.
We have rules for this ballot, many of which are imposed on us by the LTA. These rules are:
- Only 'playing members' of the club may enter the ballot, and these members must also be British Tennis Members (associated with Townsend LTC) at the time of the ballot. Each member will be required to provide their British Tennis Membership Number if their name is drawn in the ballot. Details on British Tennis Membership can be found at http://www.lta.org.uk/britishtennismembership/.
- Junior members are allowed to enter the ballot if they at least 9 years old, but social members are not.
- If there are multiple qualifying members of the club within the same family, they are all allowed to enter the ballot. However, if you are fortunate enough to draw more than one pair of tickets, we ask that you only accept those that you intend to use yourself.
- You must be able to pay for your tickets on the night by either cheque or cash. Therefore, if you are not able to attend the Draw evening, you will need to appoint a proxy to whom you have given all your contact details (including your British Tennis Membership Number) and the means to pay for your tickets.
- If your name is drawn in the ballot, you will be required to choose 'blind' from the random pairs of tickets. These will be your allocated tickets, which you can either accept or decline. You are not able to swap these for other tickets. If you choose to decline them, then your name will be put back in the ballot and you will have another chance to win tickets. Therefore, you should bring your diary along with you on the evening to be able to check your availability on that day.
- We will draw 2-3 people for a 'waiting list' in case people discover they are unable to go at a later date.
- Our ticket allocation varies from year to year, but our allocation is normally quite good giving all members a reasonable chance of being lucky.
- All the allocated tickets are pairs in adjacent seats and for all the main 'show' courts at Wimbledon.
- You MUST NOT sell your tickets on to other people. We have to provide the member's name and details to the LTA and this information is logged against that ticket. If these tickets are found to fall into other people's hands, the club will be held responsible and future Wimbledon tickets for the club are likely to be suspended. If you cannot use your tickets (even at the last moment), please inform a committee member and the club will endeavour to allocate them to another member.
We look forward to seeing you at the Wimbledon Draw Evening, and good luck in the ballot!
