Welcome to Townsend Lawn Tennis Club Junior Section.

Juniors of all ages from 4 to 16 are very welcome and there is tennis available to suit all ages and abilities, both at weekends and during the week.

Lessons are available in groups and/or individually starting with the "traffic light" system with softer, larger, red balls and smaller courts for the younger players, progressing through to orange balls and then to green balls and full size courts for 8-10 year olds (mini tennis).

The Tigers Academy provides both group and individual lessons  for those juniors keen to improve fitness and ability. This offers flexibility where Juniors can attend once, twice or three times per week and involves one to one sessions with both Matt (our coach who holds Performance Coach Award Level 5) and the older teenage club members to improve rally experience.

Townsend also has Junior teams and squad training sessions for the teenagers.

Last, but not least, tennis camps are available during school holidays.

All Juniors are encouraged to play matches in tournaments both within the club and against other clubs.

As well as competitive tennis, there is Junior Club Night (Mondays 6 to 7.30pm term time only) where the junior members can simply turn up and play a few sets with friends in a sociable environment (and have a Coke and bag of crisps afterwards in the clubhouse!).

Added to that there are social events arranged for the Juniors. In the past we have had rounders in the park, a visit to The Natural History museum and coming up soon - film and pizza night. We also team up with the adults for the Generation Game tennis tournament and the annual summer BBQ .
