St ALBANS TOWNSEND BOWLS CLUB was established in 1919. The Club has a long tradition of achievement in Hertfordshire. Members have represented the Club at national, County and District levels and in Associations to foster the well being of the game. In 2010 Andrew Briden became the first member to receive International honours when he played in the British Isles Championships.
The Club is far more than a competitive body and provides help and support to bowlers at all levels.
The existing clubhouse was opened in 2001 and is recognised as one of the finest in Hertfordshire. The Club is pleased to be able to host County and District events.
The fixture list caters for bowlers of all standards and includes social roll-ups, friendly matches and District, County, London & Southern Counties and National competitions.
Many of our members have been successful over the years, as evidenced by our honours boards, both men and ladies. Two of our ladies won the National Championship and went on to win the British Isles Pairs Championship, as well. In 2007, the men's section won the prestigious London & Southern Counties Shield. Andrew's achievement in 2010 is the pinnacle of the Club's success, so far.
