Based in St Albans, Verulam Cycling Club (VCC) is one of longest-established and most active cycling clubs in Hertfordshire, with over 400 members.
We're a friendly, inclusive club that caters for all ages and abilities - from able rider to serious racer. Although focused primarily on road cycling, we also offer regular mountain bike rides in the local area.
Other activities include club runs, sportives, youth coaching, road racing, time trials, turbo training sessions, chain-gangs, guest lectures, weekly social evenings, an annual awards dinner and an annual training camp in sunny Majorca.
Our club runs take place on Sunday mornings - a number of groups are organised, designed to accommodate cyclists across the ability levels who can comfortably ride around 50 miles (minimum). We stop for coffee and cake half-way! New members are required to attend our club induction, a classroom session and skills ride (held on Saturdays) to ensure they have a full understanding of our group riding etiquette and the ability and skills to enjoy our Sunday runs.
Our regular club social nights take place from 8.15pm on most Monday nights throughout the year (not Bank Holidays) at the Townsend Sports Club, Waverley Road, St. Albans.
A diverse calendar of events is designed to inform, educate and entertain members on all aspects of the sport of cycling - recent examples have included bike maintenance classes, sports nutrition lectures and cycling journeys across India, Sweden and the USA (to name just a few)!
