Townsend Tennis and Bowls Club in St Albans is one of the premier sports clubs in Hertfordshire with teams in both the tennis and bowls sections playing at very high level in the local area and beyond. The club is situated about half a mile from St Albans city centre. The club not only has a distinguished sporting reputation, but also excellent facilities with a bar and hall which is available for hire.

The tennis club is very proud to have achieved the LTA's ClubMark status in December 2009, being the first private tennis club in St Albans to do so.  This was in recognition of Townsend achieving excellent standards in terms of operational procedures and junior development.

Although the club was established in 1919, it had a new clubhouse built in 2000 with modern facilities and off-road parking. As importantly, both tennis and bowls sections run a very friendly social side to the club, with organised events ranging from quizzes and race nights through to the annual BBQ.
